Golden Oaks Nursing Home

Bendigo I Victoria

Client : Bendigo Health

Status : Completed 2018

Consulting to a local architecture practice, Y2 Architecture, N2SH Director Nic Hughan provided the Project Briefing, Feasibility Study and Specialist Design/Planning services for the redevelopment of the existing Golden Oaks Residential Aged Care facility in Golden Square, Bendigo.

The project master plan included the incorporation of Golden Oaks Nursing Home with the adjacent (Low Care) Carshalton House, via a new link building that would incorporate a new, consolidated entrance, reception, staff and support areas, as well as a small resident lounge and/or activity area.

The project also included the upgrade of the existing facilities at both sites to include ensuites to each room (where practical), increased dining and recreation/lounge areas, and improved access to secure and observed outdoor areas.

The final component of the staged redevelopment project included the expansion of the existing building to the West, utilizing the natural slope of the site to provide a covered car park underneath the new 15 bed extension.

Carshalton House is to be progressively modified to accommodate High Care residents, thus enabling the consolidated facilities to provide a consistent and homogenous standard of care to residents.

Upon approval for funding for this project by the State Government, the final design and documentation was undertaken by BHA, with the project being opened in 2018.
