N2SH Design Studio is a boutique Melbourne-based practice providing specialist consulting services focusing on healthcare, aged care, laboratories and other controlled environments, to both public and private sector clients. Following a successful career with some of Australia, and the United Kingdom’s largest and most prestigious design firms, Managing Director, Nic Hughan, formed N2SH to address a market that he understood to be poorly serviced at the time – delivering specialist services for small-to-medium scaled projects in both regional and metropolitan contexts.

Since its inception in 2015, N2SH has successfully delivered more than 170 projects from our studio in Melbourne. More recently, our Hong Kong studio was established to deliver specialist services to a small number of international Clients. Our specialist skills and knowledge base have been acquired working on some of the most complex and prestigious healthcare, aged care, wellness and clinical/scientific research projects in Australia, South-east Asia, the Middle East and Europe.

Our services include but not limited to:

  • Master Planning

  • Strategic Planning

  • Facility & Functional Briefs.

  • Medical Planning

  • Laboratory Planning

  • Architecture

  • Design & Interiors

  • FF&E Selection and Procurement

  • Advisory Services

N2SH emphasises a high level of personal involvement in all of our projects. Our nominated key personnel remain actively involved from inception to completion.

We believe that this facilitates the development of beneficial partnerships with our Clients that, in turn, provides both an improved understanding of the functional requirements and operational matters critical to the project’s long-term viability.

A flexible facility is to be able to accommodate to an ever-evolving spatial demand and changing programs. This is the something which we consider carefully in our planning. Our designs go beyond future proofing by integrating latent adaptability and flexibility in order to make our facility designs “future-ready” to accommodate these ever-evolving needs and requirements.

From a contemporary, people-centred approach to facility design, it is imperative that an environment be created that is unique, highly collaborative, engaging and holistic, where staff and teams work in close proximity.
This approach creates an environment and culture within the workplace that will assist in the attraction and retention of quality staff, which is one of the greatest challenges for any organisation.
